4 Nights and 3 Days at Waranqu

Day 1: Islas Ballestas, Paracas National Reserve, and Sunset Desert Dunes

After a warm welcome to our home and a great night’s rest, wake up to a delicious home cooked breakfast complete with coffee, tea, and fresh squeezed juice made from the locally grown fruits. If you choose the private tour, Luis will take you to Paracas around 7:30 am where you will enjoy a two-hour boat tour of the Islas Ballestas, home to sea lions, seals, and penguins!

Next, Luis will give you a private tour of the National Reserve of Paracas where you will see the historic rock formation known as the “cathedral”, fossils from sea creatures that lived over 35 million years ago, and beautiful vistas of the famous red sand beach and the Pacific Ocean. A trip to the Reserve isn’t complete without a delicious lunch of fresh-caught fish in the fishing village of Lagunilla. After lunch, we’ll head back to your hotel where you can rest and recharge before our sunset adventure to the desert dunes!

Around 3:45 pm, Luis will pick you up from your hotel to venture on our sunset adventure in the sand dunes. After about 45 minutes of driving through the desert, you will arrive at the start of the trek where you will see kilometers of pristine sand dunes in all directions. Once you reach the top of the dunes, we’ll take a rest for wine and snacks. Make sure you bring your cameras to capture the unforgettable sights and picturesque moments of the sun setting on the Peruvian desert! Finally, enjoy a star-filled sky as we drive back to Ica and arrive back at Waranqu for dinner around 7:00 pm.

Day 2: Pisco and Winery Tours and Sand Buggies and Sandboarding in Huacachina

Enjoy another beautiful morning with homemade breakfast and coffee, tea, and freshly squeezed fruit juice. Around 10:00 am, a taxi will pick you up to take you to the first vineyard and bodega, El Catador. This family-owned vineyard is where you can enjoy learning about the history of pisco and how it is made while imbibing samples of their various artisanal piscos and wines. Next, your taxi will bring you to Tacama, another winery known for their colonial architecture and cultural show, “marinera con caballo de paso”, a traditional dance with a horse. Take a delicious lunch at the winery’s gorgeous restaurant and make sure to try the most famous dish in the Ica region, sopa seca con carapulcra.

After lunch, your taxi will drive you to Huacachina for your sunset dune buggy and sandboarding adventure! There, you can enjoy some fun in the sun while a dune buggy takes you up and down the sand dunes. Once you reach the top of the dunes, your tour guide will show you how to ride the sandboard all the way down! When you’re finished, we recommend visiting a local hotel and enjoying a drink by the pool. Finally, your taxi will take you back to Waranqu for dinner around 7:00 pm.

No trip to Ica with Waranqu is complete without our unique adventure to el Cañón de los Perdidos (the Canyon of the Lost), which was recently discovered in 2011. Around 7:00 am, after another delicious home cooked breakfast and filling up with coffee or tea for the full day ahead, Luis will take you on a special trip to the Cañón. When you arrive around 11:30 am, get ready for breathtaking views of the rock formations created over 20 to 30 million years ago when the area was a marine bottom. Along the trek, you will also see well-preserved fossils of sea creatures that lived over 20 million years ago, including the skull of a large turtle!
