Pisco and Wine Tours

Waranqu B&B is exactly the sort of place I look for when I travel – family-run, friendly, and comfortable. After visiting Huacachina, it felt great to come back to a quiet home away from that busy touristy area. Breakfasts and lunches were sizeable and some of the best meals I ate in Peru. Owners Luis and Victoria were always willing to stick around during meals to chat and give me suggestions of what to see next both in the Ica region and in other parts of Peru. I got a lot of tips for my next trip to Peru! Their lush backyard was so relaxing with a large pool, a view of a nearby sand dune, and their 4 pets — a dog, an outdoor cat (didn’t bother my allergies), tortoise, and parrot — walking around. I really enjoyed reading and writing in my journal there.The tours led by Luis were also wonderful. He was able to organize our sunset dune buggy rides in Huacachina for us, as well as our boat ride to Islas Ballestas and a tour of the desert reserve there. We took a tour of the Pisco Vineyards with him and he helped us to time our tours so that we would miss the big crowds and could experience the bodegas without as many people around. The most spectacular tour was the Valle de los Perdidos Tour. Luis took us way out into the desert to explore a canyon and nearby river ecosystem. The hikes through the canyon and over nearby hills were breath-taking. The drive there was well worth it too. We passed through so many different parts of the desert and even saw fossils and petroglyphs.An amazing place to stay when you visit, Ica! I highly recommend it!
